Universities sign annual performance agreement with UGC

Live Correspondent: Thirty seven public universities signed Annual Performance Agreement (APA) with University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh today at UGC auditorium for establishing good governance and excellence in higher education and research in their respective institutions.

Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC was present at the agreement signing ceremony as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC was Special Guest. Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, UGC presided over the ceremony. Mr. Md. Shamsul Alam, Acting Secretary, UGC and representatives from universities signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Mr. Md. Mizanoor Rahman, FCMA, Director, Finance and Accounts Division, UGC delivered the welcome address.

Professor Mannan, in his speech urged all to discharge their duties by maintaining honesty, sincerety, integrity and best manners for establishing good governance and also excellence in higher education and research in their respective institutions.

Besides, he stressed the need for upholding the best practices in manners and activities to curb the corruption. The Chairman of UGC called upon the university authorities to properly utilizing the public money to turn Bangladesh into a developed and prosperious country by 2041.

Professor Yousuf Ali Mollah urged the university authorities to perform administrative, academic and development activities with commitment, accountability and transparency to survive in this globalized world.

Professor Shah Nowaz Ali, in his presidential speech called upon the all concerned to be respectful to the government rules and regulations while accomplishing the duties to reduce corruption.

It may be mentioned here that the main purpose of Aannual Performance Agreement is to make the activities of universities under education ministry dynamic, vibrant and transparent. Vice-Chancellors, Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Treasurers, Registrars and Directors from 37 public universities and high officials from UGC, among others were present.
