Live Correspondent: Bangladeshi southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal today said they are focusing to handle not only in spin but also pace bowling of the powerful component of Australian side.
“To get a good result and play against Australia, we’ll have to handle their spin and pace bowling both … we are not only preparing for spin bowling because we have to score against all their players if we want to do well against them,” said Tamim while talking to newsmen at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
He also highlighted the fact that during Tigers’ recent Test matches, the English pace bowlers took wickets as well.
Tamim said to be honest they are not only thinking about spin as they are going to face a strong Australian team who are fantastic and very professional.
Regarding the fact that both him and Shakib Al Hasan are set to reach the landmark of 50 Tests together, the dashing opener Tamim said “It’s a nice achievement that me and Shakib are both playing in our 50th Tests but at the end of the day if there aren’t any memorable performances to mark this landmark then it would just be a number.”
The left handed opener said he feels proud to be representing the World XI side for the tour of Pakistan by saying that: “I think we are doing a fantastic thing by making these arrangements and hopefully they [Pakistan] will be able to host the matches successfully.
Replying to a question, Tamim said they would have a good chance if Mostafizur, Miraz and Shakib would able to act a big role by producing good bowling against Australia in the Test as they are the main bowlers of the team.
