At one stage, he popped out his head of the bus window near Mohakhali flyover. His head banged with a lamppost and got seriously wounded around 9:30am. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he was pronounced dead. Shihab was the son of Jahangir Alam, a resident of Badda.
“I heard a banging sound and suddenly noticed a boy’s head stuck between a bus and a lamppost,” campuslive24.com. “He was shouting – brother, please save me.”
“We rushed to the bus. If the driver had driven the bus backwards, the boy could have been saved. But the stubborn driver kept on running the vehicle,” Shagor said.
At one stage the driver fled the scene. Visiting the spot, this correspondent noticed that particular lamppost was a bit closer to the road posing threat to careless passengers.
