Live Correspondent: Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, on Tuesday stated that a review meeting on mitigating the recent crisis in the mass transport sector would be held on Wednesday at the BRTA office in the capital.
Obaidul made the announcement during a function at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
“The review meeting on mass transport would be held at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office at 4:00 pm tomorrow,” he said.
The minister made a directive to the BRTA chairman for holding the review meeting with leaders of transport owners’ association.
The function was organised for giving a compensation cheque to a victim of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC), who died in a bus accident in front of Mouchak market on March 29, 1991.
The minister handed over the check for Taka 2.5 lakh as compensation to father of Nafia Gazi, a student of economics department of Dhaka University.
The BRTC would give a total of Taka 10 lakh as compensation as per a court order.
Secretary and officials concerned were present in the programme.
