Live Correspondent: Turkey will provide more scholarships for the Bangladeshi students to the internationally recognized Turkish universities aimed at further enhancing engagements in education sector between the two countries.
“Ankara has agreed to enhance Turkish scholarships for the Bangladeshi students,” said Turkish Minister of National Education Ismet Yilmaz when Bangladesh Ambassador in Ankara M. Allama Siddiki met him at his office on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Turkish education minister showed interest to materialize the idea of holding an education fair in Dhaka to attract more Bangladeshi students to the internationally recognized Turkish universities at a considerably lower cost.
They also discussed various issues of bilateral interest with especial focus on enhancing cooperation in education sector between the two countries, according to a message received here today.
Dubbing Bangladesh as a rising economic power in Asia, the minister lauded the steady economic growth of Bangladesh when he recalled the warm and traditional friendship between Bangladesh and Turkey.
Yilmaz expressed the hope that the cooperation between the two countries would further intensify in all areas particularly in the field of higher education in the days to come.
The minister also showed keen interest in the next round of Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting between the two countries.
Besides, the two sides exchanged views and shared ideas about possible cooperation between the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and the Higher Education Council (HEC) of Turkey under a mutually agreed Protocol.
Earlier, the Bangladesh envoy briefed the minister on the level and extent of bilateral relations including trade, defence, education and culture between the two brotherly countries.
He also hailed the economic progress and development of Turkey in recent years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Siddiki briefed the minister about the socio-economic achievements of Bangladesh under the pragmatic and prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with reference to the targets laid down in Vision-2021 and Vision-2041.
