Anisuzzaman seeks Rabindranath to be instilled into youth mind

Rabindranath-Tagore-Quotes-1Correspondent Live: National Professor Dr Anisuzzaman today sought massive initiatives to instill into youth minds the philosophy of Poet Rabindranath Tagore to prevent them from being intoxicated by the ideals of terrorism.

“If someone could realize the message of universality and humanity in Rabindra literature, he would never be influenced by or involved in terrorist activities,” he told BSS on the eve of 75th death anniversary of the Nobel laureate poet, fondly called Biswakabi.

He said dissemination of Rabindra values could effectively prevent the spread of parochial terrorist ideologies and protect the younger generation.

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique supplemented Anisuzzaman saying Rabindranath reappeared as a crucial factor for national unity with his holistic philosophy as the country was now exposed to threats of terrorism.

“The essence of Tagore songs with their universal message of harmony could reunite the nation against the fight against terrorism the way he united us in 1971,” he told BSS on the eve of 75th death anniversary of Nobel laureate poet, dubbed as Biswakabi.

Sidduqe stressed reintroduction of Rabindranath to the new generation to help them set a higher objective of life, shaping their mind with the thoughts of the great philosopher.

“We need to revisit Rabindranath Tagore to find the very root of Bengali culture and entity,” said the vice chancellor of the country’s premier university.

Their comments came as Bangladesh is set to observe Rabindranath’s 75th death anniversary chalking up elaborate programmes to recall Rabindranath did not leave any human emotion untouched in his works, especially in his poems and songs.

As part of the national level celebrations, Bangla Academy will hold a two-day promgramme to mark the day also staging the publication ceremony of the third volume of “Rabindrajibon written by Ahmad Rafiq.

“The publication ceremony will be held at the academy’s Poet Shamsur Rahman seminar hall at 4 pm tomorrow . . . the cemony will be followed by a soiree of Rabindra Sangeet,” Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan said.

Noted litterateur and musicologist late Abdus Shakur authored the first two volumes of Rabindrajibon.

Like every years, the apex academy on Bengali language and literature will organise award giving ceremony ‘Rabindrapurosker- 2016’ at the academy’s Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium in the afternoon on the second day of the celebration.

Khan said senior professor of Dhaka University’s Bangla department Syed Akram Hossain and singer Tapon Mahmud were selected as recipients of the award this year. Bangla Academy Chairman Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman will chair the function.

In his long seven decades of endeavors in different genres of Bangla literature, the great poet enriched the Bangla language and literature and elevated their positions in the global arena.
