Sports Live: Bangladesh national cricketer Arafat Sunny has got bail in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

The spinner was granted bail in the case on Tuesday by Judge KM Shamsul Alam of the Cyber Tribunal after Nasrin Sultana, the woman who claimed to be Sunny’s wife, stated that she had no objection with it.

After this bail in the ICT case, there is no legal bar against Sunny to get release from jail.

Earlier on Thursday, a Dhaka court granted an interim bail for one month to Sunny in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohamamd Quamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order following a petition filed by Sunny’s lawyer Jewel Ahmed.

On February 1, Nasrin Sultana, claiming to be Sunny’s wife, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Women Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Court-4 against the cricketer and his mother Nargis Akter.

Judge SM Rezanur Rahman of the tribunal, after recording Nasrin’s statement, had asked the OC of Mohammadpur Police Station to submit a report on the filed case after an investigation.

According to the statement, Sunny’s mother Nargis Akter along with some men beat Nasrin up on a road near Mohammadpur Police station.

Other than that, two more cases were filed against Sunny and his mother on charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry and under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act on January 23 and January 22, respectively.
