DU Live: Dhaka University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on Tuesday.
Dhaka University and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishing a Hindi Chair at the university.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at a ceremony at the Institute of Modern Languages at the university. Director of the Institute Prof Ifat Ara Majid was also present.
The first Hindi e-magazine in Bangladesh was also launched marking the World Hindi Day on Tuesday.A DU press release said the Hindi Chair will be established soon. A senior Indian Professor will be appointed to the Chair aiming to conduct research for expansion and modernisation of Hindi language. Speaking on the occasion, Shringla said, “On this occasion, we are signing the Memorandum of Understanding for Establishing a Hindi Chair at the University of Dhaka. Under the MoU, a ‘Hindi Chair’ will be established in Dhaka University.
